Hello there, whoever you are!
This semester in our english class we started talking about the topic of equality and stereotypes with visual and non-visual minorities in our society. We talked about how affirmative action affects people who are a part of a visual minority and how people of both types of minorities are generally treated in our society. People usually apply negative stereotypes to people who are different than them, for example we watched a movie where a Jewish boy went to a catholic school and developed relationships but then the relationships were ruined when the catholic people found out that the main character was discovered to be Jewish. We also talked about real life issues with minorities like the syrian refugees fleeing their country. We had a class discussion about how our Prime Minister is giving money to world aid (promised 120 million canadian dollars), but we are going into debt. Our Prime Minister keeps giving money to try and help these people but we aren’t leaving enough money so that we can help ourselves get out of debt. We talked about how Germany brought in around 600 000 refugees and I was wondering how that has affected your lives in Germany? Have you noticed them being treated poorly around, or do you even see any refugees where you are? Here in Canada we brought in some refugees but most of the population complained that we didn’t have room and that they weren’t wanted here.
I’m sorry if this exchange is a little bit awkward, since I am not sure who I am writing to quite yet, but I’m sure once I get to know who I am talking to a bit better, the conversation will come a lot easier to me. The opinion of me and Jacqueline on refugee crisis
We are of the opinion that it is good to help people who have to flee from war, fear and violence. After all, we would also want that somebody takes us up if we had to flee to another country.
However, we are also of the opinion that one small number of refugees should not be included, because: THE ATTACKS!
Some terrorists have carried out assassinations with us in Germany.
It makes us very sad to see that some of the people who supposedly needed help exploit our hospitality.
We have befriended them and they kill people from Germany. I’m glad I have not experienced it myself!
I hope the attacks stop. #prayfortheworld #prayforlondon
